Auction, Gold Rush, and spare ribs!

Yesterday was a fun filled night having dinner  in Old Sacramento with  Jo Ellen Krasnobrod, the founder of Landmark Creations. The  temperature was perfect – I sat having crabcakes and mussels while watching the sunset over the river zooming with houseboats.   We mused over the special events that happened at the convention and the nice people that we met.

Earlier in the day I  enjoyed  a  very nice Gold rush themed lunch devouring spare ribs and  baked beans!  We had a  fun table and  another new glow member, Brenda, told me that she had one the raffle for my 6″ Broadway Ball. I was soo excited and happy for her.  Later I spent time at the auction where  a variety of Christmas items, from a Thomas Nast print to kugels, were being sold.

Then off to the museum where I spent another hour mezmerized by the wonderful collections contained in each glass cabinet.

Today I volunteered to help out in the Museum room and later Jo Ellen is  taking me on a special tour to Napa Valley.

Until the next sketch!

  1. What item did you find most engaging or interesting in the museum room?

  2. Michael, it was a REAL pleasure meeting you. I know we will always be “Glow Friends”. I’m so happy you enjoyed your first convention. It will always hold a “special” place in your heart as you come to many more conventions.

We are very fortunate to have such a talented, friendly, and caring new member. You will have life-long friends in this group. (I hope I am one of them)

Looking forward to Milwaukee in 2010.

  3. Michael……..Thanks so much for your reports on the convention. I’ve been a glow member for 13 years ,but was unable to attend this year. What were the high lights of the museum room ? I always look forward to that……. Glad you enjoyed your time and hope you attend 2010 in Milwaukee…………..

Marilyn- I LOVED meeting you and Jerry. I am honored to know you both and to be one of your friends. I can’t wait until 2010!! The Kathy Patterson piece made it home safely and now has a prominent place in my cabinet. Thanks again.

Hi Kent- I will be posting my last report tomorrow. I am going to post photos from the museum room on it. The room was really quite amazing and large- one of the unique parts of it was the collection of prints and advertising memorabilia from Dolph- it was amazing to see a collection like that all in one place. Unfortunately no photos were allowed there. I will see you in Milwaukee, can’t wait!

  6. Hey Michael,

It was a delight meeting you at the Golden Glow Show. You are so talented and fun. I wish we could have spent more time chatting. Your pictures of the various antique items are just wonderful. You have to wonder what it might have been like living back in the early part of the last century at Christmas time? I would love to go back just to feel it. I hope that I will see you in Delaware!

    Hugs,
    Debbee T.

Hi Debbee- it was so special to meet you- I just love your sculptures.
It always makes me so happy to look at them, and after meeting you- I know why—they are just infused with your spirit.

Some of the Glow member’s collections are remarkable- I just am amazed by all the color that was used and the attention to detail. It was like falling into the rabbit hole and ending up in Wonderland.

I am definitely planning on coming to your signing in Delaware with my puggles. Can’t wait to talk more-Mike
